Left hand door button

Does anyone have an idea where to start looking for problems with the door opening buttons. I have a 2002 450 with door buttons on the base of the mirrors and the passenger door button has stopped working. I have looked in Steves Bible but these buttons dont seem to be covered - I have the second version, is there a later version?

Any help most appreciated please?

Try pages 307 and 308 in the second edition of the Bible. Recently had the same problem in mine where the door opened via the aluminium ball from inside but didn't work via external switch. We thought the solenoid had gone, turned out to be a snapped cable between solenoid and door mechanism.

I had the same problem not so long ago on my 98 Chim. The button worked fine and then suddenly after about a week of not being used, it just stopped working. Someone on the forum suggested a spray of the button with WD40. I wasn't sure about doing this with electrics, but I gave a good spray towards the button through the gap around the mirror and also a good spray at the button itself on the underside of the mirror. Left it overnight and it started to work occasionally so I just kept on pushing it repeatedly and it started to work again everytime. I guess the button had just seized and the WD40 feed it up. May be worth a try before doing anything more drastic.

Tried the WD 40 trick, still no joy. Anyone got any other ideas please?

Hi,
This happened on mine. I took the speaker off and found one of the wires to the door button had come away fron its connector.
Scotch blocked it up and it now works fine.
The wires were black and red as I remember. Make sure you cable tie them out of the way of the window mechanism when your finished or the first time you open the window it will pull them apart again.
Mine was easy enough to do without the need to take the door apart.
