The bonnet release lever on my chim is completely stuck! cable is still fine, however without pulling the lever clean out of the u/s of the dashboard have no way of opening the bonnet. Anyone had the same problem or know of a fix?

Many thanks

BUT! what can you spray, as the release mechanism is concealed beneath the bonnet & the T shaped pull handle
has no obvoius means of access to the cable?

There is actually a half to 3quarter inch gap beneath the rear edge of the bonnet and the bulkhead. The catch is directly in front of the point where the washer pipe emerges. I think you might be able to use the thin bendy tube that comes with WD40 to deliver a dose to the catch mechanism - maybe use a small mirror to see the target. Then I suggest you apply pressure to the bonnet above the catch to ease the bonnet up and down while someone firmly pulls the T-handle.

Will give it a try this eve, however the handle is well & truly jammed with perhaps 2-3mm of play maximum.
Seems very strange as it is such a simple mechanism.

Thanks for the advice Hutch.

Blast WD40 up both ends (using tube as suggested) - you may need to get your head under the dash - and leave it overnight to soak in (the WD40, not your head...) There must be a bit of bowden cable at one end, at least!

Finally got it sorted, reach beneath the dash & pull the cable at the junction with the bulkhead, reduces the length of pull required.
Thanks to everyone for the advice.
