So, who's on fire with outrigger replacements these days? Mine are needing doing and I'd prefer body in-situ to avoid having to disturb a whole load of additional stuff if poss... am assuming there's more at it nowadays and the methodology has settled down?

Neil Garners in Wiltshire have a good rep for outrigger replacements with body in situ. They've done a grand job on mine thumbup

Probably not the closest place to you but can't recommend them enough!

i am sure garners do an exellent job given the difficulties of welding tubes with limited access but a note of caution i have replaced several outrigger sets and all the chassis that needed them also needed other works especially top rails just where the water drips from the screen so i wont do in situ or partial lift, fuel pipes is another area that always need changing but personal choice

Would agree with this. As I see it, in for a penny, in for a pound.

I Have only heard fantastic reports from NG through reports from TVRCC members who use them, and would not go anywhere else to care for their P&J's.

But after reading Johns reply and his experience with chassis restoration, the only way to be 100% competent that you have a solid chassis is to have the body off refurb, casting any doubts aside that your potentially 20 years plus old chassis, is capable of handling any engine upgrades and power, your car will be putting your chassis to the test.

Had mine done in-situ at Power whilst having other work done about 16 months ago, welding seems fine but longevity of coating - not so good!! I believe they use sets from Richard Thorpe. I think I'd generally agree with the body up/off camp but Gary knows his car particularly well and there can be other constraints to take into account when deciding which route to take, all imho of course.

Here's a few photo's from a well known Garage who have got to put the work right after another garage did a bodge job and didn't lift the body to replace the outriggers. Pretty shocking in my opinion.
