Fuel Tank Outlet Help
Discussion
The outlet pipe on the fuel tank has failed, pulled the tank forward to get at the earth point and fuel leaked everywhere, boot of petrol good job for the vent holes most of it ran out. Got the tank out and the short piece of pipe from outlet to the metal U has completely fail inner is just bits and black slime. Has the wrong pipe been used or do fuel lines do this? Just glad I wasn't out in it at the time.
Anyone know what size and spec pipe this bit is?
On the outlet is there a rubber seal wondered if its worth replacing while its all out.

Have you managed to completely remove the fuel tank ?
I would suggest this is the best thing to do. It sounds like somebody has not used the correct type of fuel hose.
For the correct size measure the diameter of the u-bend that sits between the very short outlet hose from the tank, and the fuel pump.
Any decent motor factors should stock good quality fuel hose but here is a link for you view/order online etc.

Here is a picture of mine which shows how short the x2 lengths of fuel hose are.

Where the outlet from the tank passes through the boot wall there is no specific grommet.......typical TVR........ they just sealed it with mastic.

I've just replaced my fuel system, and changed the outlet to run AN fittings, when it was apart the seal between the tank and large hex nut was in good condition so if its not leaking leave it alone, the small hose on the end of that will perish over time, measure the metal outlet and buy quality sae j30 r9 be aware there are some dodgy batches about see sticky from Southways at the top of chimaera pageAnyone know what size and spec pipe this bit is?

As Discopotatoes says there is a seal between the large Hex nut and the tank but it is a special and if your tank is not leaking here best left alone. I undid mine and the seal fell apart, luckily my local TVR dealer had one in stock.
It may not be an issue on your car but on my 96 Griffith the rear suspension fouled the brass U tube and I had to shorten it see:
