Speedo Removal

After a damned good blare to the coast and back over the weekend the Speedo has stuck - again - at 45,999, how easy is it to remove them?

I dont have to remove half the dash do I? Ordering the bible today but wanna sort this speedo out!

Some hearty tapping should un-stick it.. I'd try that before removal

I tried that but to no avail, was suggested I took It out and gave it a tap face down on the table but I really dont want to take the dash apart - i've read the threads about sitting upside down for hours on end

There are numerous threads on this (Griff and General)so do a search. I tried all the suggested options but had to remove the dash (29,999.5) and gently tap the back of the speedo with a toffee hammer. Took 1/2 day to do but well happy it worked. I take it the speedo works and it is just the odometer that's given up.

Makes you wonder if the advitised mileage is correct on any of these cars!

You really need the bible to show you how to remove the dash. First screw is behind the glove 'box', second screw is a reacharound job near the driver's door. Apparently its really easy to crack the veneer on the dash, so be vewy vewy carefuw.

Hmmmm...think i'll give it a week, see what happens and in that time my bible should've arrived if I need to disassemble half the car!

It is on mine, I have a digital one

BTW taking the dash off is nowhere near as bad as people make out. Three 10mm nuts, two passenger side, one drivers side. To break the veneer you would need to have hands like elephant's feet.

Yes indeedy, still saving up for the bit that covers all those awful wires up, will get there in the end

tvr central have removed my speedo to get it calibrated. they took the dash off first, seemed to be a 2 man job but only took abour 5 mins. peter

5 minutes to remove the dash. Fook me!
Must have took great care in that job. Took me about an hour. Frightened of it cracking and it was bloody tight.
Mine is a Griff - sorry forgot I was in the Chim forum. Never took the Chim dash off so assume its a damn site easier.

seemed to be very easy, couple fo bolts removed, two bods, as i said, and just eased it off.

It would not matter what forum you are in it would still take more than 5 minutes
