Quite simply how do you remove the vent pod in front of gear lever ???

Just changing out the carpet and can't figure how to get it out.

I think the vent pod is part of the lower dash. The vents themselves just pull out, use a plastic trim lever or a screwdriver covered in insulation tape.

I've just re-trimmed as well. I managed to slide the new carpets underneath the lower dash with it in situ, jus enough room. Driver's side was easier but that may be because I did it second so knew what I was doing. My way was to use the original carpet as a template to see where to cut the new one to size, cut it a big bigger to give yourself some margin, and trim down in situ. Slide the bit under the dash first then wiggle the rest about to get the fit right.

Passenger side was hardest, trimming around all the cables and gubbins was a pain in the arse.

I thought this was how about to remove the vents, permanently!

I find these vents really annoying as they never really shut off completely.

Swap ya.....nothing ever comes out of mine. If it did it would be a useful way of detecting whether the heater fan is switched on at 70 mph on the motorway. On a later car with the ally knob there is nothing on the dash to tell you

Vent pod isn't part of the lower dash apparently

If you are referring to the domed alloy push and twist control then there is a grub screw in one of the flutes.

Vent pod is a GF moulding and is part of the tunnel top so not removeable unless you get in there with a grinder/recip saw.
