Under fairly heavy acceleration I can hear and feel a slight knocking coming from the front drivers side wheel, After looking at it on a ramp I think it could be the bushes on the wishbone?, Has anyone else had this?, does that sound about right? and can you get the bushes or do you need to replace the wishbones???
many Thanks
Richard

To coin (steal) a phrase once used by Manek.
Are you sure it's the bushes and not a Nissan Micra stuck in the tread?

From your profile, yours is a 96 Chim (snap!), so yes, I'd say it was the bushes.

You can do them yourself, parts are cheap, but its a bugger.

Recently replaced my front bushes myself. I experienced all sorts of knocks not to mention awful handling so you could have worn bushes. They are pretty poxy bushes (and coupled with the top wishbone ones being very close to the manifolds) yours could be shot. There is also a top and bottom swivel (ball joint) joints which could also be the culprit.

Wishbone bushes can be replaced fairly easily although they appear to be expensive for what they are!! Would also recommend putting in Thrust washers which stop the new bushes slopping about in the mounts.

Does anyone know if they are TVR's own design or someone elses?

Cheers,

Butty

Yes you can get poly bushes, I had some fitted a few months ago and they were purple in colour. You can tell if they need doing because the wishbone top should be centrally between the chassis lugs (sorry don't know technical term) and the bush fills up the few mm at each end.

Penninsula do poly ones. Mine needs doing on the front, they are 8 quid each as opposed to 4 quid for rubber ones. They will last a lot longer. You need 8 to do the front and 8 for the back.
