430 Chim cutting out and wont restart
Discussion
Afternoon everyone,
Your thoughts would be appreciated before my Dad takes a chainsaw to his Chim !
Car is 430 Chim with Tornado chip ACT trumpets and has all been set up by Dan Taylor TVR.
After about 50miles car spluttered on motorway as if going to cut out but actually didn't.
On return to garage on drive failed to restart and had to be pushed in.
Following morning started up on ramps then died again and wouldn't restart.
Started next day again after we changed coil ( coincidence I think ) then ran in garage for 1 hour then cut out turning over and not starting.
Before its recommission and set up by Dan it has had airflow meter, stepper, cap rotor and leads...............
Could this be ignition amplifier or relays for pump or ECU ?
Any ideas would be much appreciated before its broken for parts......... !
Also how bad is the starter motor to change as again looks like an exhaust manifold removal !!
All the best

Could well be ignition amp as they tend to fail when hot and come back to life when cold.
Is the fuel pump running during these issues?
If the engine is cranking then the starter is unlikely the issue unless it is cranking slowly. Removal is done from below and does not require the exhaust manifold removing.
First move is to get into the classifieds and buy a Rovergauge lead and software then you can test the car and give us some more clues.
