Stepper motor washer

I removed the stepper motor a few weeks ago as its was idling like a bag of nails. When I removed the stepper motor the washer just fell to bits.

I have refitted the motor without the washer and have just used PTFE tape in the hope of an air tight seal. I still have intermittant idleing problems (low , high and stalling)

Do I need to replace the washer, does it set the distance of the plunger or not ?

Any idea where to get a washer ?

I would say yes, you need the washer.

You may be able to get a suitable fibre washer from your local hardware store.
