My latest TVR Chimaera is still not on the road having sorted the alarm, doors, rad, lights, horn, windscreen washers, air induction system and front damper,I still had to fix the fuel gauge read 1/4 when empty, ran out of fuel when I was driving it home. That's fixed but having striped the carpet of the fuel tank to get at the sender I found that there was no mounting for the spare wheel, the carpet was stuck directly to the fuel tank. I am sure that can not be correct. In my last Chim the CD multi-changer was screwed to the top of the tank shelf so that would have been directly into the tank not a good idea. So the question is does anybody know what should be there?

So how would the spare wheel and the CD cassette holder be fixed?

The CD player is screwed into two blocks of wood that are glued onto the top of the fuel tank and then covered over by the carpet.

Hi LenChim.

Here a photo of my fuel tank after I removed the CD changer and brackets. The CD changer brackets (simple "L" shapes) are slid under the fuel tank brackets. then two slits are cut in the carpet to allow the brackets to poke through.

You can just see marks (left rusty with a black line - right a black line) this if you click on the photo it should be clearer. smile
If you need more info just ask smile

Here the fuel tank removed from the car. (Fuel tank + bracket marking swapped L + R, of course smile )
