Newbie with a few questions

Hi folks, I've been the proud owner of my first TVR for 2 weeks now (I've been too busy driving and strangely grinning to post any messages!).

I bought the car from what can't be classed as a specialist TVR garage. The car has covered 14k miles and not in need of a service but to my knowledge it looks as the previous services weren't done at independant specialists either. So should I folk out
the cash now and get it serviced anyway. Should I go for the 6k or 12k straight away (what's the difference? apologies!) and any recommendations - I live in West Yorkshire. I've seen RT Racing in Sheffield would thye be worth a visit?

I'm sure someone more knowledgable will come along shortly. Did you get it inspected by a specialist/independant? If so, and they said it was good then don't worry.

Otherwisw, there is one of the TVR dealers who detail what is done at each service on their site (HHC?). Try a search for that. Then phone the dealer who did the service and ask them exactly what was done. Check it off against the list of what is supposed to be done.

If something's been missed, depending on what it was I'd get it serviced. Plus it will give you a very, very good idea as to what state the car is in.

No it wasn't checked at all - abit fullish on reflection, but the heart ruled the head for a couple of weeks.

Definately get it serviced by a TVR garage of any sort, go for the 12k service just for peace of mind, in this they change the diff oil, tune and check geometry.

I'm a fully qualified mechanic and MOT tester but have always forked out for the TVR service, these people work on TVRs all the time and know what to look for.

This will also help your resale in later life, with TVRs history is king, even though you have little or no proper history now you can reasure the next owner you had the car properly looked after.

Not in West Yorks. There are a few in North Yorks though (check the North Yorks TVR Club site for more details or post on the regional forum).

There's also an ex-TVR race mechanic over in Manchester.

They did my pre-buy service (was a 12K) and did a faultless job.

Where did you get it from? Bought mine from a small concern in Sheffield - chap basically selling cars from home.

look on Henley Heritage TVR dealer's site they have a printoffable service schedule so you can see what needs doing at which service interval...
