Put foot down, loses all power and almost dies. Disconnect AFM, runs well but smells a bit rich. Roverguage reads about 6% for the AFM at tickover. I think this is low can anyone confirm? Is it a new AFM or is there a fix?

It its a new one, where to get one without braking the bank?

Thanks
Dave

Are the £60 ones on ebay any good? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MASS-AIR-FLOW-METER-SENS...

Check the AFM reading in direct mode on roverGauge- it should be around 35%- you have greater accuracy at low air flow rates in direct. The £60 Ebay units are Chinese crap, unstable at best and wont take the heat in a TVR engine bay. Typical failures of the AFM means the output voltage goes higher than it should so it floods the engine.

Checking the AFM on Roverguage reads 35% direct at tickover. Any ideas anyone? I have measured fuel pressure and it seems fine under load, and have anyway tried a new filter.

With the AFM disconnected, it is FAR better, though seems to still miss a bit at high revs and doesn't want to maintain high revs.
