What our cars should be used for occasionally!
Discussion
My son Michael and I took part at a club sprint at Curborough yesterday.
Apart from a half-hour light shower during the morning the weather was great, in fact my face was so red last night, (Coco the clown springs to mind!).
Anthony, (QBee) Ian, (RosieTVR) my son and I had a really good thrash around the track resulting in several spins, (my son Michael was the worst or the best at that) which resulted in reasonable times which slowly fell during the day.
There was a real good mix of cars there including many classic rally cars which were unbelievably fast . These included Mark one Escort's, Chevettes, two Lancia Stratos replicas, (one producing 500 BHP at the wheels) and several others.
I should have taken more photographs but was too busy driving, watching, looking at other cars and generally chatting with the likes of Alun, (classichim) to think about my lack of photography skills!
Ian's car performed magnificently and Anthony's turbo was soooo quiet, unbelievable!
Leader board, ( not very clear but you get the idea looking at it closely.).

Ian. 5.2 griff

Anthony, turbo 4.6

No3 son, Michael, (Note the perfect apex clipping, superbly trained by his father!
)

Times.
Ian: 32.33
Michael: 32.78
Anthony: 33.53
Phazed: 31.08

Bit more training and Micheal's gonna be rippin, rotating the car with big rear end slides into turns, oh to be young and stupid
very impressive stuff.
I mentioned to him to be slightly more subtle with bringing the power back in and he made the very good point, his 1.2 Corsa has little power, classic case of low powered cars developing less than subtle throttle action, habits form, his dad's face was so very enjoyable at each and every spin, proud so he was,, you can slow em down, can't speed em up and Peter knows it.
The competition from no 3 son curtainly focused Peter, flying and smooth, no visible mistakes and very very fast.
Anthony's car went well. Ian's Griff is a beauty and I enjoy his attitude,,, if in doubt,,, flat out and he hadn't even worked out the track layout, love it when someone expects to be fast without the slightest amount of practice,,,
great bloke and as usual great fun with the boys in the sun.
Yeah really interesting cars there and well worth a watch. It does make you quite proud when you see other TVR owners really flying and showing how brave we/ they all are
