Stepper motor pipe

My googlefu has failed, tried searching but drew a blank.. Underneath the stepper motor is a pipe that appears to go straight into the plenum, on mine it just had a manky old silicone hose venting to atmosphere pushed onto it. Is it supposed to be connected to something?

It should go to your fuel pressure regulator (rear of the fuel rail l/h side).
