Indicators!

Well! I now have my Chimaera - how many years have I waited? I would like to fit light smoked indicator lenses to the front and side to match the rear cluster (1998R revised version). Can I find any? No........... I can't find a supllier of after-market lights for Challenger tanks! Any clues anyone?

You can get the smoked ones easily, they're the same as Ford Fiesta lights.

The front ones, hmmm, try a Land Rover dealer?

As stated the side indicators are easy to obtain, Ford dealer or Halfrauds. The front are more difficult and as far as I am aware are only available in clear form, I don't think that the military were into customising too much. Therefore, if you wanted to do it you would have to find some way of giving the clear lenses a smoked effect.

Try Leavesley near Burton-on-Trent. Speak to Stuart in spares. I got mine for £8 each 18 months ago although I did collect them. Most of them are 2nd hand but you only see the lense so it doesn't really matter - they just need a good clean up.

Any Lucas parts supplier - Part No AEU1375 Military Lens. Cheapest I've found from genuine supplier on line is £22.00 each. a supplier near me is quoting £17.00 each. If you can find em second hand try landrover breakers.

I bought all the bits to change the fronts and side indicators to clear lenses off e-bay. This included the red push fit bulbs for the side lights and the silver mirrored bulbs for the fronts. The trouble is (this has been discussed in this forum before) that after I had got everything I decided that it only suits certain bodywork colours and mine (Crimson Starmist)is not one of them. Therefore, the entire set will be going on e-bay soon if you keep an eye out.

The reserve price will be what it all cost me.

Fit the Philips Silver Vision bulbs so you don't get the fried egg effect.
Why spend more when you don't have to. There was a pair on e-bay and i'm sure they were £32 when I last looked.
