Sealing around rear lights
Discussion
Has anyone removed or had their rear perspex light cover replaced? Around the top of mine where it meets the bodywork there is some quite large areas of trapped clear adhesive which looks a bit naff. I can only presume too much adhesive has been used and subsequently spread as it was pressed into place. If I replace the rear perspex (or try and clean it up), is it a difficult job to get the rubber sealing looking neat again, as I have seen some pretty bodged looking examples (Griff headlamps being one of the more common). The sealing at the moment looks a little greyish and cracked and lets the appearance of the car down, so I’d like to change it anyway. Is it a specialised body shop job or can my local dealer do it?
very easy, changed my rear covers to dark red ones to blend it into the bodywork. The exsisting covers come off fairly easily, might need a sharp knife (watch the paint work!!!)
You can see where the sealant can be put and a small line all the way round is enough normally, TVR seem to put loads on!!!, Once you have put the lenses back on you can neaten the sealant from the inside
hope this helps
