I suggest you Google it, I'm not trying to be unhelpful in saying this but the fact is if I gave you your answer this post would almost certainly be deleted.

The irony of all the alarm post deleting nonsense on PH is if you take a look at the Abacus Alarms website all the information you're looking for is there for the whole world to see, it makes a mockery of the over zealous policy of PH removing what is essentially very useful and freely available information for owners of these cars.

I'll even give you a link...

censored

Hope it doesn't get removed because it's nothing anyone couldn't find by typing a few words into any search engine wink

ETA

Whilst it may be freely available for all to view elsewhere, we do not want sensitive information displayed on PH.

You have to remove the top of the dash to get at it, I seem to recall.

The car is in at the garage, and the garage have told me that the META alarm has stopped responding to the key fobs (both used to no avail, but the immobiliser responds and unlocks when the "key" is used in the slot) after they put it up on the ramps - they are now suspecting that the connection to the META aerial might be the issue.

They were been checking the speedo before that (as that seemed to have a ground/earth problem)...

When I gave the car to them, the alarm/immobiliser was working fine - as it has done for the last 7 years before that...

Is there any way that putting it up on the ramps might dislodge some connection to the alarm/immobiliser aerial?

My gut feel is that when they were checking the speedo (i *assume* with my limited knowledge that the earth/ground would be behind the dash?), they have disturbed something to do with the META, causing this issue.... Can any one hazard any guesses as to what they might have done to cause this?

In short, I don't feel that this is my responsibility and that I should be paying for tracing/rectifying this as they have caused the problem - but I want to be armed with enough knowledge to argue my case.

Can anyone help..?

Thanks.

To be fair,
...anything can fail at any time
...anything electrical can definitely fail at any time
... and, for that matter,
...anything TVR can absolutely fail at any time...
Put 'em all together and what do you get?... laugh
Of course it's possible that it's something they've touched, but you may have a hard job proving it.
It could be something simple like fob batteries... have they tested the fobs for an output signal?

Yes they have - both fobs working but alarm/immobiliser not responding. Dallas key disables the system correctly however.

I have just found this article on the HF Solutions website (bottom item), which appears to fit the bill...

As they have had the car for months (again), it would not surprise me that the battery has gone flat and may have caused this problems...
