There are some quite deep scratches on the carbon effect inside of my roof panel. Plan is to try polishing out with fine wet 'n dry then compound, anyone tried this with good results or got any better ideas?

It's only sticky back plastic, I believe. I would just recover it.

I'll investigate further!

Had thought about recovering but concerned it would lift at the edges/corners?

Couple of scratches are deep, reckon they'd show through unless I sand them out or fill scratchchin

Pull the edging rubbers off, recover, reattach? I will have a look at my old one to see what's possible.

That's normal fibreglass and resin you can see. If not too deep then sand and polish as you say. If it is too deep then fill with some fibreglass resin and sand/polish.

Admittedly TVRs can be a bit Blue Peter sometimes but not in this case, the outer skin of the targa is fiberglass but the inner skin is genuine carbon fiber, it's definitely not sticky back plastic!

If you look at a targa panel cut in two (as is common in the Griff world) you will see this two skin construction quite clearly, the inner void between the two different skins is hollow, this an the inner carbon skin is why the panel is so strong and light.

It's actually a rather nice piece of composite work, I have a two piece targa panel but I still prefer the convenience of my Surrey Top wink

I don't doubt you're right, Dave, but mine scratched easily and badly - I thought the whole point of carbon fibre was that it was strong and light, and so wouldn't scratch. Hence why I thought it was a bit Blue Peter.
I still think a sheet of sticky back carbon fibre look stuff would probably be the quick solution to the OP's problem, so long as he made the suface smooth first.
I actually hate dark headliners, gloomy not sporty in my opinion, which is why mine is going to leather in the same magnolia as the rest of the interior, when i can get around to it.
