Mileages and stuff...

Beastie got MOT'd today, one advisory.... oil leak... oil pressure sender body... Mr Smith had a new one on twenty minutes later..... So, on close inspection of the new shiny MOT Test Certificate, it appears we have done 1,431 miles since the last MOT (16 months ago), 1,847 miles between MOT's 2015-2016, and 3,206 miles 2014-2015... that's an average of 2,161 miles per year over the last three and a bit years..... Total mileage from new ('98) is 52,936, which is an average of 2,786 miles per annum.....
Engine was rebuilt in 2011 with new block and internals at 34k, so its only done 18,936 miles....which is an average of 3,156 miles per annum over a six year period......
So, me and beastie have been together now for nearly 7 years... and 21,436 miles..... we've laughed, we've cried, we've scared a lot of people, and we've made a lot of people smile too. And we've comprehensively emptied my wallet on more than one occasion.... My youngest daughter has inherited my charm and good looks, and loves beastie... my ex wife tells me constantly I should grow up.
One day beastie will have to have a new guardian......... I hope they love her as much as I do.......

Come on Richard, you really need to get out more in Beastie.
So I'm going to double mine in 2 weeks time. I've done the NC500 twice and almost every road in bonnie Scotland. This is my dream drive to let me enjoy the car. Get your map out so you don't get lost
1. From Wakefield to Edinburgh via: A1(M), A66, M6 (boring but necessary for time constraints). At Gretna take the old A74, now the B7076. From Moffat take the A701 to Broughton then follow to Biggar. Take the B7016 to Carnwath then the A70 to Edinburgh.
2. Edinburgh over the new Queensferry Bridge on the M90 to Perth. Take the A85 to Crianlarich. Then the A82 to Invergarry. A87 to Skye all the way to Uig ferry terminal.
3. Ferry to Tarbert, Isle of Harris then A859 to Stornoway.
4. Ferry to Ullapool taking A835 to Inverness. A9 to Aviemore.
5. Aviemore to Speybridge on A95. Take the Old Military Road A939 to Tomintoul and on to Ballater. A93 to Perth.
For me this is driving my car, not going round and round a Scaletrix track. These are some of the best driving roads in the UK imho. I wont be hanging about either

Assuming your youngest was the daughter who came around Snetterton in my passenger seat, grinning from ear to ear inside her helmet, there couldn't be a better future custodian.....

As for youngest sprog inheriting beastie (yep Anthony that's Abi) then maybe... depends on if they put me in a home or not
Trev, It wasn't specifically an itemised component by component search for an oil leak.... I think it dripped hot oil on the testers head while he was checking out the underside It also left a puddle on their garage floor.... failed component I'm afraid... can't fault the tester though, I rate them very highly, they do a lot of TVR MOT's.....
About six years ago I was working with a lad from Montrose, and he showed me photo's of the roads from Ullapool to around Applecross....(took his wife) again, stunning, and I hadn't heard of the NC500 at that time, but it's right up there on my bucket list of must do road trips...

Iain, I was on a course (no, not penicillin) back in '89 at Fort William and had the wonderful opportunity to go skiing on Anoch Mor... totally awesome, the views were just stunning... my work regularly (not so much this last year) takes me to Aberdeen (office stuff), Peterhead, and Invergordon, plus the occasional flights out of Wick and even a one off a couple of years ago into Scrabster... where one of the best Seafood restaurants in Europe can be found Come on Richard, you really need to get out more in Beastie. I took my Mrs around Applecross Spring 2016. Still some snow on the pass, but when she managed to open her eyes again she loved the views.....and the excellent fish lunch at the Applecross Inn.
I think the Applecross Inn is on that picture.
