In the middle of chassis off project, have brought a bolt kit for chassis but there are other bolts and nuts I wish to replace at the same time and was going to order a range of nuts etc., so as rebuilding can replace according. Can anyone confirm if the car was built with metric or imperial nuts and bolts?

Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Bit of both.

Suspension nuts and bolts are imperial (unc/unf IIRC) then the hex head bolts for driveshafts are metric.

Nuts and bolts you can replace with metric. Just make sure length and strength (stamped on bolt head) are the same.

Not all, for example there is no direct metric equivalent for 7/16" or 1/2" .

16mm & 19mm should work fine.

M16 and M19 are a tad big!

Think he's talking spanner size?... whereas an M10 bolt (17mm AF) is close-ish in size to a 7/16" one and M12 (19mm AF) is close-ish to a 1/2" one.
However, I'd keep it as designed.

Edit:
NB, 'AF' in this instance stands for across-the-flats, not American Fine!

It's not the spanner size that matters, you don't want to be putting a 12mm bolt in a 1/2" hole!

I probably would do it, don't see the risk on suspension that uses plastic thrust washers on suspension. Each to his own.

Hopefully this should give you a decent starting point.
