There are a couple of T reg Chims here. I recon for a quickish private sale, assuming carpets hood and paint in good condition, no major bills around the corner, around £13.5-14.5K.
Starmist green is quite a common colour though...
IT MAY BE A COMMON COLOUR BUT ITS A BLO%DY NICE COLOUR......YES IM SHOUTING AND YES I HAVE A COMMON STARMIST GREEN!!!!!!

Even for a very quick sale its got to go for at least £15k surely for a 450?
If it was me I'd be looking for £16k at least from what I can see in the classifieds.
If there are other simmilar cars for sale for much less than that that and havn't sold they might not be as good as your one?
Of course depends on how many buyers are out there, condition etc but summer is comming must be quite a good time to sell.

problem is though is if you are going to advertise it on here it may be better to not mention you are going to in the forum, just an observation but I am currently in the market for a 450 but clicking on your username and reading all of your posts about how the car has been no end of trouble and how the RAC know it inside out etc etc puts me off it straight away as I am sure would any others.
Remember that prospective buyers are always lurking around the forum trying to get as much info about the cars before they part with their dosh!

Just to chip in with my $0.2, I would agree that for a private sale £15k-£17k seems right (obviously how quickly you want to sell will determine how far you're prepared to slide down that scale...

While I appreciate that it's possible to get a pretty detailed history of a car through profiles and posts on PH, I wouldn't necessarily consider that a bad thing.
Like any handbuilt sports car, a TVR is always going to have problems of varying degrees of seriousness. PH is a great source of info and advice and I'd feel much happier buying from someone who cared about their car sufficiently to want to sort out any issues.
As a buyer, you're also getting way more info that you might from the logbook/receipts. For example, a PHer may chip in on a thread and say that they religiously Waxoyl the car every year and always make sure they get the outriggers and other bits that frequently get missed. Something like that is deffo a plus point from a buyer's point of view. Similarly, you may find that a car has recently had a new starter motor; a 'frequent-failure' item that shouldn't need replacing for a while...*
Just to clarify, I have no idea what specific issues ChimBungee has had with his car or what work he's had done. I just use the Waxoyl and starter motor ideas as examples...

I agree witht that, i have looked at various cars advertised on here in the classifieds and then trawled through the owners posts to get a picture of the car and often you can ascertain the resons for sale.
I like the fact i can do that and whole heartedly agree with your comments but in this particualr case if you look at the posts you can see a lot of frustration and posts about getting rid of the car, that just tells me the car is more trouble than others.
Rightly or wrongly, from a buyers perspective it would be enough to make me not bothering to enquire any further about that particular car. I tend to be happier to make further enquiries when i read posts about servicing, smaller problems being fixed and the reasons for selling are due to the owner upgrading to a newer model etc.
Only my opinion of course and no offence is meant to anyone, just merely an observation from a buyers perspective, and my tuppence worth on the price, 15k would be around right to take for this age/spec I would advertise maybe at £15,500-£16000 but it's a buyers market out there and plenty of lovely cars around this brackethave been for sale for weeks/months.

Definitely agree with that. I would also say that I'd be inclined to think a newer model at a cheap price had something wrong with it and hence a reason for it to be priced cheap. When I bought mine in Jan I looked at 2 newer models (a 98 S and a 99T) both of which were a similar price to mine (13.5k) the 98 had a new front end and the 99 had part history (omitted from ad) and a lot of rust on chassis etc. I then didn't even bother considering cars that to me looked too cheap.
My advice would be to not price it cheap, but to price it competitively against models of a similar age and mileage.

Personally I would rather pay £2k more for a good car than £2k less for a rough one. It takes no time at all to run up those sort of bills at a dealer if you are not a bit handy yourself.
The other thing is a bad car will never turn into a good one no matter how much you spend on it. There can easily be £1k difference just in tyres and servicing alone, forgetting the actual condition of the rest of the car.

I'd be interested to hear what others think. There is a T reg Chim in the classifieds for £13.5 and it's been there for some months. It's got around 50K miles so I recon for a quick sale, Chimbungee should put it up for around £13.5-14.5K. Just my 2 pence worth !
