Black alloys..........yes/no??????

i just had an idea,as its hard to find alloys that fits chims or a good design.......then what do u think if i have my original alloys sprayed black instead of buying a new set and tyres.i wouldnt dream of doing it if i had standard front lights but i think black wheels look good on twin headlight models,i see a lot of cerberas have them,and i think starmist green and black would go .not sure look good on standard size wheels.....might make them look smaller!!!i welcome your feedback as i havent seen any 1 do this before(my alloys have seen better days anyway,cheers rob

On your car, hhmmm - no me thinks, the silver really brings out the green in your car.

Why not go for something like this...

I think not as well, you need a good contrasting colour for the dark alloys to work , they look fab as they are.

was thinking the very same when a set appeared on Ebay a little while ago. Original alloys painted gloss black. I think they would have looked mean on mine.

Why don't you play with photoshop to get an idea of what it would look like before you make what could be an expensive mistake.

Sounds dodgy to me... I saw a Chim at the tail end of last year that was imperial blue with the wheel spokes painted imperial blue too.. that again looked fairly poor in my eyes.

I had my brooklands green chim wheels sprayed Black last year.
Although looked ok, I regretted it and this year I had them repaired and sprayed back to silver when i had a bonnet respray
People comment black was different but silver looks so much better,it brings out the colour of the car, also if you were ever to sell, not everyone would go for black.

From my experience, dont do it!

Im sure ive got pictures at home of the car with black wheels, which i can send if u were still unsure.

IMHO black wheels suit some cars (I've recently seen a very nice yellow Chim with blackened alloys), but not green ones...

Gloss black TVRs (especially Cerberas and Tuscans) look amazing with anthracite alloys, but to be honest I can't see it working on any other colour (in my opinion only, of course).

Personally I think Gloss Black (something like Ford Panther Black, not powder coated or matt as they need to catch the light well to look good) wheels look great. Its all down to what your after..... Classic and original then go for silver with a walnut dash .....Full attack track monster with alloy dash and leven accessories go for black every time . I've been toying with the idea now for months. A good friend owns his own company and will paint mine panther black for £100. I'm well tempted.
