For those of you who have fitted a grille on the underside of your bonnet vents - can you please show me a picture of how the grille is fixed to the bonnet ?

Thanks in advance.

Haven't done it myself but those I have seen were stuck in place using Sikaflex 221 (like lots of other bits).

OK thanks. I was thinking they would have been secured with screws.

My old car had mesh fitted under the bonnet and it was just stuck on with generic high temp sticky stuff, never shifted in 15 years, if you find one in black it blends in with the finish on the underside of the bonnet. wink

Thanks Raceboy. Not a bad idea, the black mesh.

I went for black mesh on mine, not a great picture as the light makes them look silver but they are black. S&D did mine for me.

My mesh was silver, it was the glue that was black. 😉

Little mod to the cap on the header tank too, making it lie flush. Looks very tidy.

I don't think the Chimaera's suffer from it but on the Griff you can see the brake fluid reservoir through the vents which does not look so great in my opinion. The cover was offered as a solution from Surface & Design.

What does the mesh achieve?

Is it mainly aesthetics to hide the fairly ugly, (when viewed down a slit) engine bay components?

Hello Alun, yes indeed I have had a respray. Eagle Eye! went for a Chim bonnet while I was there. I do love the design of the vents on the Chim. I will do a full write up at some point soon as I had a few other bits done as well.

Hello Peter, like you say just aesthetics I believe and yes does a good job of obscuring some of the engine components through the vents.

Hi Matt.
Your doing a great job with your car and the fleck in that colour looks ace.

I’d very much enjoy a write up so go for it.

Many regards Al
