I want to change my bottom hose as it is pressed tight against the Fan Guard.
How can you get the bottom hose off and a new one on? (no comments undo the jubilee clip please)
How is the fan plate fixed underneath the rad the top is 2 screws when these are taken out and the top is loose
the bottom seems to still be attached by something. I can't take the 4 fan screws out as one is covered by the bottom hose.
I thought I could take off the passenger side fan and plate and slide the drivers side fan housing across but no such luck.
Picture of bottom hose and fan housing.

Thanks Tony

That would appear to be an ali rad so I'm not surprised it does not align.
The fan housing is attached at the bottom by the same screws you have found in the top. However because of their position they are normally rusted in. Your only hope is that the ali rad is relatively recent so the fixing may come out ok.

I second that the bottom house fitting must be in a slightly different place on that radiator. I've recently had my front ARB off for a refurb and the bottom hose actually touches the chassis close to the ARB mount. That said, my hose only clears the fan shroud by about 10mm.

I put some protective / sacrificial tape round it in case of it rubbing through although there didn't seem to be any damage. I'd recommend just doing that. They are not moving parts and unless the radiator flexes a fair bit, it won't rub that much.

Seems my alloy rad is bigger than standard as it drops lower than what is shown
The Fibre Glass strengthening web that the cable's are cable tied too is above the bottom of the rad.
Feeling under the rad from the engine side it seems to be 2 screws as per the top fixing.
Is the only answer rad out job or just try and force the old hose off and the new one on.
Picture of my rad below.

If the hose is hard against the fan and housing then taking the rad out is not going to make it fit any better. If you can change it with the rad in then go for it.
Beware that some silicone hoses have quite thick walls so may make your situation even worse.

Sounds like a job for the dremel. Hose off dremel the fan housing for clearance then bend some
steel shim around the hose to protect from the fan blades. If I leave the bottom fan bolt out that means
in future I will only have to take the three remaining screws out to get the fan and housing out leaving the backing plate in situ.
I will have to change the bolts and nuts to captive jack nuts to achieve this.

I’d be inclined to remove rad and heat that pipe up and bend it a few mm.
Clamping it where it exits the rad so not applying any stress when doing the job.
I’d spray some lube over that hose and just lever off with a long driver. It’s where you would normally drain cooling system so it wants to be accessible.

It’s not my rad so easy to say scratchchin

The bottom hose is always hard to get to.

I find that if you jack the car up, remove the wheel to gain the maximum access to that area you will be able to get in and undo the Jubilee clip.
Make sure you have a good quarter inch drive set of sockets and extensions to make it easier to undo the clip.
Gently prise of the hose and clean up the area before fitting a new hose.

Ensure that you use a new clip, preferably a stainless steel Jubilee type.
I always wrap a section of hose cut down the middle as protection against chafing against the bodywork when refitting the hose.

Sounds like a plan. While the rad is out I can take off the fan covers cut along the width at the bottom and pop rivet a couple of fences on the bottom part.
That way in future to get the fans out just undo the top screws and lift the fan housings out of the retaining slots in the bottom fixed part.
I can't get to the fixings for the fan housing under the rad with it in situ as the rad drops deeper than standard.
