speedo sensor query/modification
Discussion
I would like to get rid of the speedo trigger wheel on the rear of the prop shaft. Its a PITA when working in that area and gives poor access when tightening the prop shaft bolts
I don't need the speedo on the dash as I use a satellite based race logic Vbox even on the road but if I remove the trigger wheel and no signal goes to the speedo/ECU then the car will stall when I dip the clutch/pull up at the lights as I believe its used as a road speed sensor?
is there a simple work around?

Not a technically correct one. Its not so much the loss of idle control as the car will think its stationary all the time anyway, but you wont get the uplift in RPM that makes gear changes smoother, and less likely to lock up the rear wheels on downshift. The ECU may throw a fault code as well. Id suggest you simply unplug the sender and see how it behaves and if you can live with it.
gents thanks for the guidance. - yes I am still on the Lucas system. I would like to ditch the dizzy etc but just cannot justify the £2k cost at present.
I mistakenly left the trigger wheel off last time I took the diff off and the bloody thing just kept stalling at junctions etc. I refitted it and it was fine - I think I will stop sodding about and just leave the trigger wheel in place (-:
