Just measured the piece of string and the answer is 47.29 metres.

Nearly blocked fuel filter.
Dying alternator.
Cracked 100 amp fuse.

Some times it is better to take it to a man who knows, rather than throw time and money at it yourself.
If you are an RAC member, you could go for a drive and break down......most RAC guys have had their own garage businesses and are pretty good at diagnostics.

Thanks just found that the vacuum hose connector on the distributor end was split and pipe had come away so fingers crossed, weather too crap to try it yet though. But the most likely are air, fuel and electrics.
