I've just noticed that when my battery conditioner (CTEK 5) is plugged in the triangular LEDs for the heater and the ignition warning lamps glow. I think they only appear to light up when the immobiliser (aftermarket Cobra unit) kicks in doesn't matter if I lock/alarm the car or not after leaving the car there's a short delay and then they start to glow. I'm assuming this is when the immobiliser arms itself.

I'm guessing there's an earth leak somewhere which I'll try and find but is it safe to leave the car plugged into the conditioner in the mean time? Any tips on finding what could be the cause, I've read about using a multi-meter and unplugging the fuses one at a time to find the circuit, anything else?

The leds are part of the lighting circuit which is always live. However, you have to turn the lights on to complete the cct so that is puzzling.

If your's is the later car with a rotary lighting switch this may be part of the issue rather than the earlier push buttons that isolate the cct.

Thanks for the reply. Mine is a later car and I think they're always illuminated no matter if the lights are on or not. Maybe that's part of the issue.

In the interest of concluding this. I discovered the cause of the issue and it was as simple and embarrassing as not fitting the earth properly on the battery. jester
