Underseal question

This weekend I had my car on one of those motorised ramps, checking the route of the starter motor cable.

Anyhow, generally speaking the underside is fine, but the wishbones and one or two bits of the chassis have a small amount of surface rust on in places, on the underside only. Its only a small amount, the metal itself is fine right now.

Is it possible to treat this myself, with a wire brush and appropriate gunk?

Yes. Use a wire brush attached to power drill for best results and lack of arm ache. Wear safety goggles.

Then use Marine Clean to degrease the stuff, paint it with POR15, then reapply some underseal. Sit back and have a cold beer or two while thinking about that ACT triple pleanum you carnt afford (or is that just me!)

Even better is to use a 'Poly-X' sanding disk attacked to a drill strips the rust and old paint off unbelievably well, Halfwits sell them for about £6.

Right I'm going to have a go at this this week (provided the rain stays away).

Any tips? Gonna use POR15, once thats on and dry, is that it?

BTW, they do a POR15 in silver - I was thinking would that be a better choice, that way I can keep track of what has been done recently, and what is old underseal? Its not like it would look scruffy, nobody can see it....

Only mix up a little at a time and yes.
