And it begins....

I'm using my local Landie garage to help me with the body off refurb. It's pretty good shape to be honest.

The last pic being the very worst of it. The rest is near perfect.
The plan is to sand blast the full chassis and wishbines, replacing parts as necessary.
Mine was like that. I cut out and replaced the outriggers anyway just so that I could start from freshThe last pic being the very worst of it. The rest is near perfect.

They'll be getting the needle hammer on the out rigger next week, but I'm kinda confident. The worst it'll be is two outer tube replacements, the rest really is without question.
I'm just looking at colours for it now, and red really has only ever been the option. I'm looking into using Buzzweld 2k primer and a coloured top coat. Lots of choice it seems, and that's just Reds.

First coat is a mid grey[356], 2nd coat is a light grey[670] and final gloss coat [990] is available in red, yellow, black, silver, green, or blue.

Racetech sell standard bushes and poly bushes.
My chassis looked like that, but we changed the outriggers as there were a couple of holes.
After blasting the main rails were quite pitted, even though they looked fine initially.
I went for standard bushes, other than the diff where I went for poly bushes. The diff bushes would be very hard to change at a future date so I fancied them being long lasting. On another car I had, I fitted poly bush, only to remove them as I got fed up taking them off to grease them every service and before the next service they went noisy again. With the TVR, the suspension bushes are quite thin, so not that much rubber to flex in them anyway.

It's the standard type I'm intending on sticking with.
RTV quoted me 220 for full set - which appears dear.
80 diff ones and 25 for each ARB.....that seems a little steep, but before I quize him, I though I'd get some views over price and if there's much difference in the qualities of those offered by the usual suspects??

As you can probably see from the last pic, tge chassis looks in great shape, but not until we got the body off and attacked it with a hammer did it's failing start to show.
Next job is off for sand blasting and I'm about to order a complete pair of outriggers - so much for my thinking I 'might only need a pair of outer tubes. Just goes to show you really do need to lift that body to really inspect it.

My 99 Griffith chassis was marginally better than yours , the worst corrosion being between the plates and the tubes. After a hammer attack I just had 2 small holes in the front corners. Whole new outriggers is the only way to go to be sure of the strength in the rest of the tubing, looks way better when refinished aswell. You might want to consider templating all the body mount holes before cutting the old ones off so you can drill new ones before sending the chassis to be refinished. Otherwise you have to drill through your newly repainted steel.Next job is off for sand blasting and I'm about to order a complete pair of outriggers - so much for my thinking I 'might only need a pair of outer tubes. I would strip the chassis completely if you dont intend to do so.Get all the wishbones blasted separately and carefully check them all for corrosion, especially the lower fronts.
Might be worth investing in new wishbones and you can get them ready bushed if you are sticking with original rubber bushes.
I went the poly route and have no regrets, apart from the upper front wishbone bush melting . Now well wrapped in protective heat cloth.
Check the front chassis rails just below where the exhaust manifold sits as this is a known rot point.
Lower rears have a weak point in the original ARB tie in plate have a look here for the solution.
