I've never actually looked but is the ducting at the back of the engine bay for directing heat to the drivers leg area?
Just wondered had anyone removed theirs and blanked the vents for neatness and extra room more than anything else.

I don't know about the Chim, but on the Griff it supplies air to the drivers footwell vent.

It’s the same on the Chimaera, I have thought about removing mine, I will never use it and the blower doesn’t work, so also interested to hear if anyone else has removed it?

I believe this facility was removed on the late 1996 front end facelift. No more cold knees.

May be worth looking at the bulkhead area if possible of anyone with the engine out to see if there were any fundamental changes, or perhaps it was just a removal of the vent and trunking from the existing system.

Must be for the cool air only then, I do have the fan controls under the dash but have never tried it.

Got my body off the chassis at the moment, the duct / pipe across the back of the engine bay is the heater output into the driver foot well.

Also be interested what is used on the later cars - has it just been removed, or is there an alternative duct behind the dash?

It is the hot air feed to drivers leg vent, I think I'm going to remove it and blank the holes as it gives better access to fuel pipes etc and I cant say I ever use it.

Would it be a simple retro fit or has the body bulkhead been redesigned to take the duct behind the dash? Wondering i just to remove the duct to give more room for the brake/clutch/fuel lines when I put the body back on......
