Brakes!!!!!!

Just about to get my hands very dirty, Changing the Brake pads front and back. While I am there I am going to paint the calipers, and change the brake fluid.

I think I have thought of everything, but who knows.

All went well, I now have nicely painted calipers and new pads. When I inspected the disks however, it seems that all the dimples and grooves have fallen off the back of the disks! So now I need new disks as well.

I did the brakes and discs all round (parts £70 ish)... but the process finally killed the master cylinder!!!!

So now the fun process of fulling the pedding box into the car begins!

I'm just about to order some 6 groove red dot discs for front and rear, try [url]www.needforspeed.co.uk[/url] for a good deal on these.
What did you use to paint your calipers? Mine are looking pretty rusty and dirty at the moment so I was thinking of runbbing them down and painting them at the same time as changing my brakes, just unsure of what paint to use.

OK, it was a stupid question... I guess I meant can smooth Hammerite be used instead etc..

Dont use hamerite etc as brake fluid is paint stripper..

Caliper paint is brake fluid resistant and available in loads of colours from Halfrauds etc

I will get the pictures sorted soon, As for painting I just used engine block paint (approx £3).

Just need to decide on the disks now and hope the master cylinder doesn't need replacing. by the way anyone repalced a master cylinder before?

Am half way through replacing the cylinder...... posted a seperate topic.. but no one has replied yet.

Mine needs replacing but I'm not brave enough to do it myself.
My local TVR dealer has quoted me £572.92 inc VAT.
Master cylinder is £189.00 + VAT.
Paul at Austec reckons that the master cylinder is only a Fiesta Sport one with an extra nipple, ooerr!! His price for the part is about £55.00 plus aprox 3 hours labour at £50.00 per hour + fluid + VAT.
Wonder where I will go the??

I agree.. the local ace motor factor says the part is about £60.... am happy to do the job myself as will paint the main pedel plate as a few spots of rust are on it... plus want to make sure she is sealed proporly afterwoods.. or soggy footwell!
