TVR Bodyshop Headlight Conversion

I really like the look of some of TVR Bodyshop (= Webbs?) front-end conversions for the Chim. While I like the standard Chim, I think it looks like it has a kind of sad expression (), and I think it should look a bit more demonic.

So (and BTW, Search seems to be down):
1) Anyone had it done? Is the headlight performance worth it? (obviously looks are, else you wouldnt have had it done, right?)
2) My dealer (Fernhurst) told me NOT to do it, for resaleability reasons - standard cars are always better")

Anyone got any views?

Personally I really don't like the conversion. Whilst it really suits the Cerb, on the Chim it just looks wrong.
Also, if I was buying I would steer clear of any with the conversion as to me it would always be a nagging doubt that the conversion was done after an accident.

Its a pity there is not a bolt in conversion running around.

That way if people want to change back they just unbolt and put the old one back on.

I mean we already have the headlight surround lines so why not one with the conversion.

Only a thought, but I would do it.

Don't do it. The car was dsigned to have a single round headlight on the front corners and any other arrangement will look worse and imho greatly reduce the value of your motor.

The lights are an integral part of the overall design and I don't think you should mess with them.

Same goes for wheels as well in my opinion although fully understand that a lot of people might not agree.

Only light arrangement I have seen which I think is an improvement is the headlight covers of the late models and wouldn't mind some of those.

Must admit the responses so far align with my own feelings. I do like the idea of a Chim with the double headlamps, but if I was thinking of buying onw, I'd have doubts.

So, exacly how can I improve the lighting - I have some trick bulbs in there now, and it's a step in the right direction. I have read about this Mod-Wise upgrade, but their website seems down permanently. And (since I cant search the PH site at the moment) can, I can find out about this. What is it?

Have a look in the chimaera classifieds, on page 5 i think it is, there is a blue chim with tvr B/shop type r conversion, looks the nuts!

Had a look and sorry, but I think the original looks better. To each his own I suppose.

i also prefer the original look... i agree the cerb looks great with the conversion style lights, but the chim is at its best with the round setup.

that said, i would like to know if there was a alternative light to use that is brighter than the standard candles...

I was under the impression that the Chim and Cerb were pretty similar at the front, so how can this be?

Anyways, in the right colour it looks great on a Chim. Darker colours favour the conversion, lighter colours don't look as good in mu opinion.

hello,i personally prefer twin headlight conversion(which is why i bought one with it!),i think it makes the car look more modern and i am gonna change alloys for same reason,i can understand why people like standard as will become a classic but as a young man (i can dream)myself i prefer modern,flashier look and cant really afford cerberas etc.it probably might devalue it in most peoples eyes,but there is always some one who will buy coz it is different....im happy.sorry traditionalists!!!!

Most people seem to go for the Speed 12 conversion,I think the original lights on the car make it look to old hat,I would'nt listen to people who are afraid of change.

I like both!!! if i bumped the front i would probably change i think bright colours look really good with headlight conversions but prefer dark classic colours with the original
in the end its whatever floats your boat, its your car if you like it change it
on the subject of better lights, get a proper hid xenon upgrade kit it will cost about £200ish but the difference will amaze you dont be fooled by blue bulbs they arent the same these are the sort of thing
