Hi all
After a little help.
Got the chimp out of the garage and left her idling on the drive. When she started to splutter and then the engine died.
She hasn’t got up to operating temperature she was running for about 5-8 minutes. Wouldn’t start almost like a hot start problem.
Left her for 5 mins and she starts up. She running a little lumpy and when she seems like she is dying I give her a little throttle and it stumbles and the response takes about 5-8 seconds before it picks up.
Then just dies again.

She had a new starter a couple of years back ( done less than 400 miles in 2 years).
She also had a new red rotar arm, plugs & leads, stepper, coil pack.
Thoughts please

Immediately after it cuts go do the basics.

Check for spark. At plugs. If nobe at coil. If none power at coil and amp

Check for fuel at injectors. If none at rail.. if none at pump.

Intil youve done these its not diagnosing its wild stab in the dark giessing

So a quick update.
Coil is good
Dizzy is good
HT leads are good
Sparks good
Had plugs changed.
Looks like no fuel has been in and dirtied the plug that came out.
Checked for a pulse off the injector cable, lit up a diode light no probs

My deductions is the injector is either booked proper or it’s kaput

Question is a new injector?

Are all 8 plugs the same or just the one? If all 8 are dry then its fuel pump or the relay.
When you turn the ignition on before cranking the engine, do you hear the fuel pump run for 2-3 secs then stop? Check for 12v at the pump when cranking the engine. If no 12v then suspect the fuel pump relay.
If 12v then suspect the pump. Can you check the fuel pressure with the engine not running - take a reading when the pump primes - and again with it running? Somewhere around 40 psi is good. Low pressure could be a faulty pump or a partially blocked fuel filter.
(I had a similar fault and it was the fuel pump dying especially when it got hot)
If you have Rovergauge you can check for any fault codes and also check the reading for the coolant temperature sensor.

Definitely sounds like fuel, the rail should pressurise on initial prime to around 40 psi then drop to 0 when started will hold pressure.
Check for pressure on start up and when it's running.
If all ok then look at regulator

It had a new pump a couple of years back.
I can hear the pump, the other 7 cylinders work, they get fuel and fire. Just one is misfiring. I think it’s he injector do you

Has to be more fundamental than that.
One cylinder down (spark or fuel) would not cause it to die and not restart. We have seen customer cars which have a cylinder down and the customer is not even aware.

She seems to be running well now. I think she needed a run. And some fresh fuel.
But I still have a cylinder down which I have run tests, compression, ht, coil etc. I believe it’s a faulty injector as the spark plug out of the cylinder is clean and diode tested the injector cable and that was fine.

It's not a technically dificult job to swap a couple of injector over just time consuming.

I think it’s beyond my capabilities. She going into the shop. But I took her for a little run today and other than the misfire she’s running sweet.
