Hi All,
After being wintered in the garage I tried to start the old girl and we have no noise of the fuel pump priming. Have replaced both the relays and checked the fuses in the fusebox but no joy. I have read many other posts but feel I need some support, so any members in West Sussex fancy a trip to the seaside for a spot of diagnostic work or can anyone recommend an auto electrician in this area who knows TVR's?

How hands-on/DIY are you?
If yes then I can describe to you how to bypass the relay. This will prove/disprove everything rearwards of the relay for starters.
Forward of the relay is more complicated so best ignore that for now.

Hi Steve,
Pretty hands on so a detailed description would be helpful. I have already made up a wire to run direct from battery to fuel pump but not sure on the correct way to connect so nervous about doing any more harm.

While you are waiting for Steve to reply, slide the passenger seat forward and tilt it. Carefully pull back the trim/carpet on the B pillar - held by velcro - and you will see a void with a lot of wires and connectors in there. Disconnect each one in turn, spray with WD40 or contact cleaner and reconnect. This is a common source of a fuel pump not running.
If your fuel pump has a wire that attaches nearby to the chassis then that's obviously the earth. So you can touch your wire direct from the battery positive to the other pump terminal. If it runs then likely bad connection behind the B pillar. if it doesn't then bad pump or bad earth.

All the above are definitely good things to check.

You may also want to establish if your ECU is getting power, because it's actually the ECU that runs the 2-3 second fuel pump priming pulse.

One of the things that can happen is the immobiliser fails, and because the immobiliser gives life to the ECU if that's not happening the ECU will never run the fuel pump.

I'm no expert on the 14CUX, but to check your ECU is getting power I believe you'll need to put your test meter to the brown wire that goes to pin 15? Hook your meter up, turn the ignition on, and disengage the immobiliser with your fob... you should then see +12v at the ECU, if not suspect the immobiliser.

To test the immobiliser and confirm the theory, PM me for help.

I had the same problem last year. Tried to start it on 1st May and fuel pump wouldnt prime. Fiddled with all sorts of things to no avail. In the end I disconnected the battery. Re-connected it and the pump primed immediately and the car started as normal.

That's classic immobiliser yes

Disconnecting the battery resets it.

Be aware it may come back to bite you in the arsh at some unspecified and usually inconvenient moment in the near or distant future.

Okay latest update.

Cleaned and checked connections in door post behind carpet - no joy
Disconnected battery and reset alarm - no joy
Ran a cable from battery positive to terminal on fuel pump that had yellow wire connected - no joy just a clonk sound?

So I guess fuel pump is shot?

Make sure you try it with a good negative too, you never know.

OK, thinking ahead now. How do I release pressure before undoing pump fuel hoses?
Any top tips?

There is every chance of there being no pressure in the fuel lines due to the pump not working and it being stood for a while
Disconnect any system hose that you can keep clear of and point the hose away from you as it comes off

Try to clamp the tank hose if you can, its better to burn the fuel properly than have it on the garage floor!

I'm pretty sure this is my random problem too, although I disconnect the ecu wait 3 mins and reconnect.

What are the options (besides Carl) for this fix. Is it possible to change immob and alarm units as plug and play.
