Alternator

Just after some confirmation that my alternator has packed in before I take it off and get it refurbed. Volts same at battery posts and same at alternator positive post whether car is running or not 11.5v ish when running, just over 12v when it's off. Red dash light is on. Thanks.

Before condemning your alternator check you have +12v on the exciter wire, then check your 100a fuse under the car.

Hi, dont have 12v on the exciter wire (that's the one with the spade connector isn't it?), less than 1v, rising to over a bolt when revved.

Just realised how dumbass my last post was! Don't have 12v at the disconnected excited wire spade when the ignition is on. Any pointers to sort it? Thanks
