Apart from the pair on fleecebay has anyone got a source of the MOD/ Landrover reversing lights as fitted to late Chims?
TVR Parts are out of stock with no indication of availability

I thought that these were pretty much “rocking horse poo” now. Might be wrong though.

LR part number is AEU 1375. They come up on old military sites from time to time

John Craddock has them but they are £37 each+vat. They also sell the complete light unit (AEU 1374) for £72.78+vat.

These were lurking in a box in my garage.
I bought them about 10 years ago, but decided not to fit them, as I didn't think they suited my silver car.
I'm open to offers

Thanks to Sparky I now have these in my possession
I have searched the forum and it suggests tapping the old units from the front to get them out.
Access is an absolute nightmare from the back being a mk3 and although I have got my arm in through the headlight access to unscrew the old lamps I was terrified of losing grip on them to not be able to get the housing back on lol.
The suggestion is to cut away as much glue (Silkaflex?) as possible before trying to tap the housing out. I can hardly get my arm in there let alone cut anything away.
I am thinking that the best option may be to cut a large access hole in the underside of the front skirt to give better access and then fit a cover over it afterwards.
Anyone done this?

When I swapped mine out years ago I used a piece of wood against the orange lense, which smashed then I was able to tap them out very easily

Job done managed to get in through the grille. More room on the drivers side than the near side but yes managed to peel off the Silkaflex and tap out with a piece of timber and hammer.
Came out a lot easier than I thought.

Great job, can you post a pic of them fitted. Also how are they compared to the amber in terms of them not having a reflector area. I have a pair that I want to fit but hanging off until I've swapped the flasher unit so I can fit the LED bulbs I bought for them.

I also fitted the clear side marker but still not 100% if I like the amber one more.

I did this mod a couple of years ago and the clear lenses were getting rare then.
I'd suggest making a reflector to replicate the inside of the orange lens unit you're taking off. It's too hard to split the clear lens from the casing (it's crimped in) so you'll have to make a reflector with a cut in it so that can be squeezed in through the hole at the back. Sounds like a faff but without the reflector the standard 21W bulb looks a bit dim.

The red orange and white lenses are exactly the same AFAIK, except the colour obviously. If you get silvered bulbs you don;t get the fried egg effect. I put Philips Silvervision in when I did mine about 15 years ago- not had to change one since.

I made a reflector out of mirrored bathroom tiles (Flexible ones biggrin ), when I swapped out my incandescents to leds, they made a huge difference.

If you look at the lens closely and compare the 'cells' in the below two pics you can actually see the individual leds.

No mirror fitted

I had clear lenses anyway but not sure if factory or a previous owner's mod. Bit of a Frankenstein job if you ask me. The reason to change them was that they were rusty and obviously letting in water!

Anyhow got the backs off and they fitted the ones that Sparky gave me!

Happy with the results and not got the fried egg effect, well not that anything I am worried about anyway - vast improvement. Thanks Sparky

Before the change and this is what bugged my OCD with the rusty units

They look far better on your dark coloured car Cat, than I think they ever would have done on my silver one.
Glad to help out a fellow feline.

The lens's I have are Lucas FV817224 (Side Light) which look the same as all the others but have no reflector. This is the part Sparkythecat posted above. The clear reverse lamp is a Lucas FV939004 (Reversing Lamp) which has the reflector. As others have posted they look better with some reflective material added. I've added the part numbers for anyone searching the part to try and get is the FV939004.
