Brilliant!. when I took the old ones off, both washers were below so I just followed this - but was on my mind throughthe evening...
Thanks for clearing that up.....
where the pipe meets the line, is there a copper washer between them?

No that is wrong. Thanks for clearing that up.....

The new flex pipe should have a quite long threaded section with a conical tip.
The fitting should pass through the bracket on the chassis then have a lock nut fitted (ideally with a lock washer). Once that is all secured the fitting on the copper pipe can be fitted on the end.
If you have doubts I can take some pics for you.

so the thread passes straight through the chassis, with the securing nut on the other side(copper fiting side)? Does this then have washers either side of the chassis?
If you have got time for a pic - id appreciate it :-)
Picture found on Google but shows what you need to know I hope?If you have got time for a pic - id appreciate it :-)
On original fitments it is common to find a star washer under the locknut, in reality there would be no harm in putting a flat washer either side (if threaded bit is long enough) to protect chassis paint.
Now it's just a case of male or female flare on the pipe ?
