cant lock, wont lock!

I've had my chim for about a month now and love it dearly, but came to lock it this weekend, alarm sounded, the central locking motors sounded like job done...but press the passenger side silver circle and passenger door pops open & sounds alarm! It wont lock!

I've put ear on doors and drivers one sounds like locking, but passenger door is strangely silent.

Is it going to be the motor? if so, is it a 3 wire motor? I've got 2 of them in tool box.

How do I remove the door trim? I cant see screw heads or fixings.

I'm sure the motors are not in the doors! They are in the rear wings...pull back the carpet

Sounds like a defective motor (or possibly the wiring. It seems to be a fairly common fault. The actual motor type caried with production year, so you'll have to take a look and see what it currently fitted.

The motor is located in the body to the rear of the door, and access is through the carpet on the side behind the passenger seat. Peel it back from the door frame and you'll see the motor and wiring.

Thanks for replies, looking at the doors, I can see that the catch/lock is on the body!

Anyway, the wiring is there, and the motor is a greeny-blue/turquoise jobby. Its a 5 wire motor, but looks exactly the same as the universal 5 wire motors available from maplins at £9.99 each

I used these to fit central locking on my mx5 in the past and they are pretty good.
