1995 Chim Rear Numberplate light replacement?
Discussion
Please can somebody experienced advise me of how to change the bulb behind the rear numberplate on my 95 Chimaera?
The plate is the wrong type anyway but it appears stuck on. The inside of the boot, carpet material is stuck down, I am not sure pulling it out would reveal anything.
Photos of a Griffith show a recess behind the numberplate, but that plate is screwed on, mine isn't, the panel might be different.
Any wise advice would be appreciated.

Your car is an early one ('95?) so the number plate will sit almost flush with the bodywork. It will either be screwed on like an ordinary number plate at each end or, someone has fitted it using double sided sticky pads or possibly a sealant.
You will need to carefully prise it off then you will see the 2 number plate bulb holders which are easily removed to change the bulbs. If it has been fitted using the sticky pads best get some new ones as they wont be much good second time. Halfords etc sell them for about £1.70 or so.
Might be a good idea to get the correct honeycomb number plate while you're doing all this.

You should be able to access the number plate lamps from inside the boot. If they have been carpeted over, this is wrong, perhaps on a refurb? They are either side of the boot lock about 6" down from the boot lip, and you do have to basically lean in such that your head is on the boot floor to see them.
