Seeing EuroCarParts are doing their summer discount, I thought to get some spares for a newly acquired 1996 400HC.

Can you all advise on which are the equivalent brake parts used and their parts numbers please?

(I have an impression that they are Ford Escort or Sierra's discs and pads but not exactly sure ...)

Many thanks in advance!!

The front brakes should be 260mm in diameter, the rears 273mm if you have the larger ones fitted from that year. 1996 was the first facelift year so you may need to measure them to check.

There are lots of providers but if you want cheap drilled, a set of 4 is £125 here but I can't comment on the quality:

It lists EBC brake discs and pads which I don't like, hence I am looking to see which make and model the discs and pads come from so I can work out what other options I have.

Thanks for the size, I'll measure up to reconfirm but I'm pretty sure it's the 260.

I am not keen on after-market drilled discs or EBC products. I tried them on my 996 turbo and after one single track day, the holes has to be drilled out carefully because they get blocked. That was after 80-odd laps of stopping to 60-ish mph from over 160 mph at the end of Bruntingthrope's long straight into the right-hand corner and then down to 30 mph for the hair-pin right.

Even on OEM 996 GT-spec discs, I found hair-line cracks started to propagate from the drilled holes after a few track days' heat cycles, .Now I am only using OEM Porsche discs with Brembo HP2000 pads on the 996.

Hence I am trying to establish which make and model the brakes comes from and see if I can get good quality vented non-groove non-drilled discs with HP2000 pads.

I’ve never had any issues with pagid stuff from Euro car parts.
I see they sell brembo too, both would be fine for road use.

Using the OE part numbers from the link, a cross reference gives you all the different makes. Simples!

I fitted pagid front discs and pads from euro car parts recently on my standard 1997 400. Can’t fault them. Here’s the parts codes:

104591868 Pagid Brake Disc (Front) Ford Sierra 2.8 1988
101590248 Pagid Brake Pad (Front) Ford Sierra 2.8 1988

Cheers
