Hi

Some help needed as usual, I did this upgrade years ago and now need to change the pads as one of mine fell apart when taking the suspension to bits, but for the life of me I cant find the receipt or exactly which pads I need.

I run EBC Redstuff pads and I'm quite happy with these and I have 283mm discs and believe that may effect choosing the right pads.

Can someone point me in the right direction, I think it maybe these?

One of your pads fell apart but you're going back to the same brand!

The ones you have linked to look right to me, same as Scorpio Cosworth, got Black Diamonds in my car smile

Thanks, sounds about right to me. Are you running 283mm discs?

The pad came away from the backing when taking the caliper off, apart from that recent experience they have been good.

I would think very carefully about using EBC pads. They spend fortunes promoting their products at motorsport events but spend bu99er all on R&D. EBC compounds were developed for motorbikes, using their compound to stop vehicles that weigh 10 times as much isn't prudent.

Do a google search EBC reputation, you'll soon change your mind. There's a reason that no car manufacturers use them

No, I'm using 278mm disc's with a spacer between the caliper and the upright on my S3.

I've never used them, BUT, I know a number of well respected experts in their field and theyve always told me to never touch them. Reports of something similar to your experience.

I had red stuff pads on my car, I didn't realize how bad they were until I put a set of mintex m1144 pads all round.

Think I will give the Black Diamond ones a go then, especially as they less than half the price!

I wouldn’t even get in a car if I new they had Black Diamond discs or pads.

Running Pagid blues on our 887/888 converted Griff.

Ferrodo ds2500 for me, a bit dusty but seem to last forever and never fade. EBC are comparable to lumps of wood.

Could you expand on that, are they that dreadful?

Mintex m1144, fantastic initial grab, very dusty and known to squeal. Great track day pads

Ferodo Racing, my favourite all rounder, last forever however they may eat away at the discs more than most, can squeal after hard use

Pagid, general purpose, commonly fitted by service centres, just reliable cheap brake pads

Black Diamond, don't know these pads

AP Racing, over priced and similar to Ferodo Racing

Dreadful quality. Have tried them twice (on a Ford and a TVR), and never, ever again. Horrible vibrations and not particularly confidence inspiring. Were dreadful after a few strong applications. Heard similar tales about them too.. as I have recently around Brembo pads purchased from eBay.

EBC went through a bad patch a few years ago but now seem to have got that sorted. Certainly on the Ford forums the advice os to stick to Ford OEM discs and yellowstuff pads. Ford (and Motorcraft) pads are pretty good too. Had EBC greenstuff on my TVR S3c, which were brilliant. Then had greenstuff on my Chimaera which were dreadful, so binned them for standard Ford. Subsequently had EBC redstuff and Ultimax discs on my Mondeo ST220 (Focus ST225 setup at the front) and they were brilliant.

Had Ferodo DS2500 on the Griff and currently running Pagid Blue (4-2?) and would happily recommend either with standard Ford discs for road and occasional track use.

I have this conversion, on light cars like these i find the standard pads more than up yo the job.

Ferrodo or Mintex for me tried EBC once never again but that was another car.
