Door mirrors not working
Discussion
1999 Chimaera, my door mirrors have completely stopped moving, both sides.
It would be useful if someone could tell me if the ignition needs to be on, but so far I have dismantled the interior of the door, found the connector that goes to the control panel in the door pocket and the fag lighter, and while the fag lighter has got 12 volts, if I test the mirror wires battery side of the connector, using the assumption that the black wire is earth, I cannot get a voltage on any of the other wires, ignition on or off.
I use glow when they blow fuses, nothing is glowing, but I also pulled quite a few of the likely fuses (working from the Bible), and none were blown. My electrician has just buggered off on holiday now the weather is bearable for fixing such things, leaving me in charge of his asssistant, who seems rather too laid back for my liking.

So can anyone please tell me what is likely to be the problem, and if something has snapped, blown or broken, where I might find it?
Here’s the Bible wiring diagram, if it helps. Makes little sense to me. There is mention of there also bring a control box on later cars, but it isn’t included in this diagram.

Frankly, this might as well be instructions to macrame a three piece suit for all it means to me, so treat me as an idiot if you are going to explain something complicated, please.

Much depends on what type of mirror control is used there were two systems.
In general though I would expect the mirrors to be on and ignition switched supply and a green wire going into the joystick. This is probably from fuse 16 but this supplies plenty else which you would have told us about if it were dead
My suspect would be broken/corroded wires at the connector going into the drivers door.

Ok, it’s a late 1999 car. Nothing else has failed, just both mirrors at the same time as each other. So it’s a part of the system that is common to both mirrors. Are you saying there is a connector just inside the door (or car)? It’s logical that there will be, so the wires can be disconnected to remove the doors. I feel a message to Andy Matthews (Project Bumblebee) coming on.

Yes three connectors in fact, behind the carpet in the footwell. Easy to find as you can see where the cable goes through the side of the car.
Start with simple stuff
Green ignition switched +12v
Black Earth
If you need more I can give you all the wire colours and functions
Steve
Thanks Steve. Wet here tonight, so I will be having another look at it on Tuesday, as tomorrow is a 16 hour work day. I will start testing at the connectors behind the carpet as you suggest. Start with simple stuff
