I would really appreciate some expert advice upon this......

In pulling the carpets out of my '95 400 I discovered a cable with wire with nothing connected in the inner wing panel rear of the drivers seat, by the door lock gubbins. Firstly, I am not sure what this was supposed to connect to, a fixed handle I would imagine? There is nothing present......

In removing the rear numberplate I discovered a Vauxhall lock, although it won't turn with my key. It looks a mess, and is not positioned centrally. Is this typical? I have wondered if a previous owner had to drill through to open the boot and subsequently made this repair? I would be interested to see what it was supposed to look like when it left the factory......

Neither the Vauxhall lock in the numberplate base nor the cable which comes in from the afore mentioned panel work the lock. The lock relies only upon the solonoid. How should the cable be connected and the Vauxhall lock if this was an original feature?

Lastly, behind the driver's seat under the carpet a clear tube appears from the boot area with a black cable. What is this? Is it a radio aerial?

Experienced advice would be appreciated!! Thanks.

The lock shouldn't be there. Sounds like a fudge for something. The cable unattached is the emergency drivers door release which should be attached to a bonnet release type handle in the boot, I think. The fact it's disconnected and the addition of a lock might be connected. Pardon the pun.

The plastic tube behind the drivers seat I'm guessing might be a fuel tank breather? Certainly not an aerial there.

No it doesn't look like a factory development does it. Does anyone have any photos of how the cable from the interior connects to the lock? I would like to reconnect mine. Thanks
