Chimaera battery area query

Should there be a plate or something in the passenger footwell in front of the battery?
Had a new battery fitted & surprised that there is nothing between passengers feet & battery other than a mat?

The battery should be inside a battery box like this:

A piece of carpet over the terminals and then a thick board in front of it that is a tight fit inside the footwell. I have, however seen other cars where the battery is just tied down (no box) and the footwell board is missing!

I'm part way through fitting new carpets to my 430. The bit that you're looking for is basically a piece of fibreglass sheet covered with carpet. The carpet set that I got from Coverdale includes a piece that simply wraps around the sheet/board (doesn't have to be fibreglass) and has a heel pad sewn in. Coverdale (or anyone else supplying kits) might supply you with a ready cut replacement. Otherwise it should be quite straightforward to make a template. Happy to send some photo's if it helps.
