Chim production

can anyone please tell me when the first Chim "rolled" off the prodution line, and the last one?
and how many where made?

Can't look now as I am at work, but there is a page in "the bible" that gives approximate figures for cars built year by year. From memory I think that it was estimated that around 5,700 in total were produced.

naah more like 9,000 wasn't it .....where's Steve when you need him...

I'm home now so looking at the bible (it does say the numbers are approximate) but it shows first Chims being made in 1993 and the list goes up to 2001 with an estimated total production of 5,676. However, I am not sure if production ceased in 2001. It also says it excludes any built in the TVR joint venture in Malaysia!!!!!!

mine was built at Blackpool in 2002, so I guess 2001's not right. I think it might be the last

Yeah, if you ask a Griff owner, for each Griff that came off the production line there were at least 10,000 Chimaera's produced…

That's cause griffs are more desirable

The latest I remember seeing was one that Castle TVR had recently. I think it was a 2002 with barely 1,000 mile on the clock.

I think production officaly ended in 2002 but you could still ask TVR to make one for you up untill NS took over in 2004. They still have all the molds and jigs for both the chim and the grif. Ask nicely and offer enough cash and you could probably still get one!

I've seen a few cars on an "02" plate... all with the faired in headlamps and Cerb seats.

Your right we managed to get hold of a 2003 03 registration and the date the Chimeara order form was faxed off to TVR Engineering was an amazing 22nd March 2003 - It the latest one I have seen - but I am sure there are other lurking in collections/garages

I wish mine was! from what I have read the build quality was much better

I've done a bit of work up at the factory and that '03 car was the last one they built.
