Loss of electrics when hot.
Discussion
Chimaera 4.5 2001.The car runs ok but when it gets hot if I stall it or stop it for any reason I cannot re start it straight away if I wait 5 to 10 minuets it will start. When I say it will not start there seems to be no electrics e.g. I get out of the car I cannot lock it on the fob, the starter will not turn over, you cannot open the door on the button from the outside and the boot will not release on the fob. After 5 minuets it all works perfectly. Note this does not happen all the time when it is hot I have run for hours with no problems, it seems to happen if I have been standing in traffic but that may be because I am more likely to stall it or stop.
Anybody got any clues as to what is going on? Before anyone say it is the alarm system I fitted a new system 18 months ago. fitted and wired correctly from HF Solutions and this has only been a problem for the past 4 months.

That sounds very similar to an issue I had a few years ago.
It was the 80 amp fuse above the battery.
That is in the wire that supplies the entire fuseboard.
Mine would lose all electrics seemingly at random at it got hot.
The fuse itself looked fine until it was taken off. burnt/corroded on the contacting faces.
Replaced fuse and holder and it has been fine since.
Hope it's that simple .... Cheers ....

Common hot start issue.
Google it, answers all over the place.
I'm trying to sort mine out at the moment!
The common hot start issue doesn't take out other circuits as the OP states. The common hot start problem is insufficient current to the starter solenoid only. This sounds like something differentGoogle it, answers all over the place.

Sounds like that may be a solution as I have checked the 100 amp fuse under the car and that looks all good clean etc and I know it is not the hot start problem as that was due to the incorrect wiring of the alarm unit and I know mine is correct and new. The problem is I cannot find reference to the 80 amp fuse in the SH book. So looking at the fuse board in the foot well, I assume it is not on the fuse board as it is not shown in the book, is it to the left, right, above or below? Am I looking for something that takes a flat fuse like the 100 amp one or is it a tubular/bullet one or a plugin like the ones on the fuse board? It was the 80 amp fuse above the battery.

Usually found dangling in the pigs guts of a wiring loom above the battery.

Agree with Steve D, on my car it lives in that rats nest of wires in the footwell, and mine is hooked up out of the way behind the top right corner of the fuse board. Flat blade fuse in a black plastic holder, sometimes wrapped in tape. You do need to take it right out of its holder, as your intermittent fault sounds like the fuse may be cracked.
Well gents, it transpired that the fuse was as described and located in the position behind the battery box below the fuse panel. Disconnecting the fuse at the far end and from the battery terminal I could see that the wires on the battery side of the fuse had been running hot, the connection to the fuse was a bit loos and had been arcing a bit. So I cut back the wires and soldered the terminal on correctly, cleaned everything up and put it back. The car starts and runs so so-fare so good. I will have to drive around and just see if it behaves its self.
Thanks ver mush for your help. Until next time.
