The problem with building a parts list over a couple of years is that it's 'possible' to have parts sitting on the shelf that aren't quite 100% what you thought. See my front replacement discs

I'm 6mm out on the new ones giving an increased inset from what I can see. Surely this is going to be an issue to overcome?
Offset I could space the carrier, but not sure about this. Anyone have any ideas???

6mm spacers on caliper bolts shouldn't be an issue. I have 11mm on mine with 887/888 Calipers and 278mm disc's which did give me some brake judder when I used two separate spacers (fat washers in effect) but replacing those with these sorted that out smile

Failing that your only other option I can see is some replacement disc's.

Is there enough clearance between the tre and lower ball joints to allow a 6mm inset of the disc inner face? Have you offered the disc to the hub to see what the clearance is.

Does anyone have a view on what the safe minimum clearance between disc face and ball joints is?

Personally for the price of getting the correct rotors, I would simply put it down to experience and order the correct versions.
Using spacers and washers isn’t the best practice. If fitted and when these wrongly ordered items wear out it can cause more problems replacing the correct wrong part with a part it should have been.

What do you have to lose trying some spacers, bit of steel and four longer bolts won't "break the bank", If brakes feel and work all okay you win and if not happy with it nothing is lost, buy some different discs ... scratchchin

Using the 283mm 1st Cosworth 2wd hatchback discs you only need 2mm spacers with 887/888 calipers and just a little casting flash removal from the caliper carriers to accommodate

Just read this in TVR part Ltd section 500 Chim brakes. Wondering if this could be my issue??

;Please note as standard these discs were fitted by the factory with the spacers TVR J0137 between the caliper and hub. These spacers set the caliper inwards the right distance to take the correct TVR J0146 disc. Over time some cars have had incorrect alternative discs fitted where these spacers needed to be removed. Should these spacers be missing then they will need to be purchased to ensure correct OE fitment.

So the disc that fits perfectly, not needing any spacers is the incorrect one confused

I think TVR engineers way back were told to make do rather than make good.
I imagine a large stock order was made of the wrong parts and then an order of various thickness washers followed shortly after wink
Front hub and castings are Ford Sierra and they never used used washers or spacers behind brake caliper fixings. If you are using stock brake calipers then there is no reason to have said packers or spacers.
