The vacuum advance pipe is cut off and blocked on my car. Looking through the Steve Heath book there is also a picture of the same, however at the TVRCC gathering last week all the bonnets I could see under had the pipe fitted through to the vacuum advance unit on the distributor.

A couple of questions:

1) Is this a big issue and will I benefit from refitting
2) Looing at the parts suppliers I can get all the bits to remake the vacuum connection apart from the vacuum advance valve - Any idea where to get one or what an equivalent replacement would be?

Thanks

Alan

I think yes, it does make a difference if fitted if to make the engine idle smoother. It's too rough without it.

This part may work , worth cross referencing parts https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2...

I found my diaphragm split and orrifice blocked on the plenum - probably blocked due to drawing in ste via the split diaphragm on the dizzie.

It had probably been like this since I bought it as once repaired the MPG and drivability improved, that was a few years ago and I’ve owned it a few years now.
