Anyone know what the length of pipe needed from the rollover in boot to the carbon canister is at all?

I don’t know the exact length but have you considered removing it as many do?
Most cut the hose at the rear of the car leaving a few feet, and put a breather filter on the end.
Canister can be removed and disconnected causing no running issues, the hose to the plenum also can be removed and blanked.

yes I have been debating it - as if not needed, seems daft top buy all that additional pipe - just concerned about MOT .Is there a downside to removing? presumably fitted for a reason?

Fitted as for type approval you were not allowed to vent fuel vapour to atmosphere.
Won’t alter engine emissions for MOT.

So presumably just cap off at the plenum chamber? anything specific used for this ie. solid cap or a valve?

You can buy blanks but i chose to chop off the old pipe and put an 8mm bolt in the end with a jubilee or hose clamp.

You can buy fancy schmancy ones too for 8mm https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Black-Hose-End-Blanking...

So much neater, rusty bolt in pipe (with a long jubilee 'tail') is a bit... well... a bit 'kit car'... laugh

I thought that where a carbon cannister was fitted the fuel filler cap was sealed unlike earlier cars that had a vented cap.

If you seal the line to the cannister and do not provide a tank vent you could well have problems.

Your not sealing the carbon vent but the vacuum port to the inlet manifold the hose on the removed carbon canister still needs to stay open be it at the rear or to the front to vent fuel tank

and this open vent just comes from a filter type attachment from the rollover valve at the rear?

I used one of these and fixed it to the chassis high up at the rear.
Be aware if you order the one I’ve linked to they may send you the wrong size, as the box is marked up correctly at 9 mm but the supplied filter is actually 12 mm.

Super thank you!

So the size I need is 9mm?

I would double check the hose size first as mine had a reducer fitted near the rear of the car before it entered the boot.
My canister hose was 8 mm ID but the rollover valve section was slightly smaller.
