Hi everyone
I’m just finishing off the resto of my 400 and need a bit of help with sourcing a few bits....

Dash - a few years back I bought some nice carbon effect vinyl from Stewartsf1 (anyone remember that stuff), but they are not about anymore. Anyone know a source for nice thick carbon embossed vinyl (not the thin wrapping stuff) or thick wood effect vinyl?

Front tyres - I had T1Rs in 205/60 profile on the front and liked them. The choice of 60 series tyres is more limited now. Anyone any suggestions or do I just go down to 55 profile for T1Rs again?

Interior mirror is missing but the fitting is still attached to the windscreen. Is it a Peugeot 205 mirror and does the stalk clip on to the fitting that is bonded to the screen or do I have something random on my car?

Dampers look tired but aren’t leaking. I have 3 yellow and one green bilsteins. Are new protechs a better value option than refurbed/new bilsteins? I am on a budget....

Chips Away type spot repairers - do they generally match up TVR paint (with the star mist flakes) OK? I need a little touch up on the rear three quarter...

Sorry for all the questions but I want to crack on and hopefully get a couple of weeks use out of the car before the weather goes south!

I think 205/55 is correct, that's what I have anyway
For the Bilsteins I think you have a wrong setup, it should be 2 of each colour I think, front and back, I considered refurbing mine and spoke to Bilstein about it, they offered to replace one pair instead of refurbing them because of some problem, cant remember which colour that was now, possibly the greens though

I ordered new Bilsteins from Ben Lang. Fit and forget. Excellent shocks!

Interior mirror is a straight swap. Peugeot fits perfectly, but I did notice the one I bought for a few quid off EBay is an inch or so narrower laterally than the TVR one.

QBee which model pug was it specified for as there seems to be a great deal of interchangeability between pug models due the same windscreen fitting but small differences in the mirror stalk.....

It was a universal Peugeot one, though I think the seller had taken it off a 206. As I say, it was smaller than the TVR one, so not a perfect exchange, but it was the same fitting, which is actually a pretty standard fitting.

Mine is a 94 and original spec front tires are 205/60 profile, I used Uniroyal Rain Expert which were available in this size. Have now gone with Uniroyal Rainsport all round (great choice IMHO) which means going for 205/55 profile (spec on later cars), which has not caused any issues.

Hi BM, how were the rain experts? I have heard good reports about them. Is it a step change to the rainsports? Cheers Schmo

When I bought the car 15 years ago it had Rain Expert all round but the rears were on the limit so did not do many miles. Rainsport had just been launched so were the early version and had these on rear. Had another pair Rain Expert fitted on front some time later because was happy with them and Rainsport did not do the size. Replacing the rears the new Rainsports with the flaring tread pattern came out, was not happy with such different treads so changed to Rainsport on the front a few weeks later at the lower profile.

The Rainexpert seem harder but the Rainsport being a lower profile did not have big difference, can say that the Rainsport were not quite as good until a few thousand miles, and then brought the front end much more direct and now would not go back.
